Meet Dr. Ricky Telg, New Member of FloridaWCA Steering Committee
The Florida Water & Climate Alliance (FloridaWCA) is excited to welcome Dr. Ricky Telg as a new member of its Steering Committee. As a member of the committee, Dr. Telg will use his expertise in agricultural communication and distance education to assist the FloridaWCA with its mission of fostering partnerships to co-develop and share locally relevant and actionable climate science, data, and decision support that promote sustainability in the water sector. Dr. Telg serves as a professor in the Department of Agricultural Education and Communication and the director of the Center for Public Issues Education at the University of Florida.
Dr. Telg previously worked as a television reporter, newspaper reporter and editor, and video producer for Texas A&M University’s Department of Agricultural Communications. He also taught journalism and broadcast production at Texas A&M. He received Teacher of the Year honors in the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences in 1997 and 2011, and CALS Advisor of the Year in 2000 and 2014. Dr. Telg is also an active member of the Association for Communication Excellence in Agriculture, Natural Resources, and Life and Human Sciences.
